Admissions & Registration Process

Thank you for considering Saint Gilbert Catholic School. We invite you to visit our campus during one of our Open Houses or schedule a tour to experience firsthand all that the Saint Gilbert community has to offer your student. This is an excellent opportunity to see our vibrant school in action, visit the classrooms, and meet our teachers and principal.

Re-enrollment for current families begins in early January with all forms to be completed prior to Open House. At Open House, Saint Gilbert Catholic School begins to accept registration forms for new students.

 

Application Form:


To be considered for admission, new families must submit a non-refundable $250 enrollment fee accompanied by the completed Application Form which includes the following required documentation:
 

  • Birth Certificate issued by the County, State or National Agency evidencing that the student meets the age requirement

  • Baptismal Certificate, if applicable

  • Reconciliation date and location, if applicable

  • First Communion date and location, if applicable

  • A copy of the latest report card received for the student (one full year)

  • Official copy of the transfer (if a transfer student)

  • Bus information and an application fee are also required

 

Saint Gilbert Catholic School does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color or national and ethnic origin in administration of educational policies, athletics or other school administered programs.

Saint Gilbert Catholic School has the following priority of admissions:

  • Active students already at Saint Gilbert Catholic School

  • Newly registered families who are in good standing (discipline, academics, and attendance)

  • Deviations to enrollment policies may be allowed to permit enrollment of all students within a family. Within each category, preference will be given to the earliest applicants.

 

Age Requirements:

 

Saint Gilbert Catholic School follows state law, which requires that a student has reached the entry age by or on September 1st of the given year:

 

  • Preschool – Child must be 3 or 4 years of age on or before September 1st of that school year.

  • Kindergarten –  Child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1st of that school year.

  • First Grade – Child must be 6 years of age on or before September 1st of that school year.

Admissions Process:

 

We are excited to begin this process and look forward to getting to know your family. Below is our admissions process:

  • First, we get to know the Parents/Guardians

  • Meeting with the Principal

  • Brief observation in your student's prospective class/tour of the school

  • Meeting with a prospective teacher

  • Student interview and shadowing process

    • Pre-K/Kindergarten students: half hour visit to prospective class with parent/guardian

    • Elementary students: Shadow Day, half or full day

    • Middle School students: Shadow Day, full day in the life of a student at Saint Gilbert Catholic School

Kindergarten Screening:

A kindergarten screening will be given to all incoming kindergarten students. Kindergarten applicants are not accepted until they have passed the screening and have been notified of their acceptance after the screening.

Transferring Students:

Any student transferring from another school must present a current report card showing a full academic year and the most recent assessment scores. Students and parents/guardians of fifth through eighth grade students may be required to meet with the Principal/Assistant Principal. Saint Gilbert Catholic School reserves the right to request any other pertinent information before the student is accepted.
