March 30, 2020
I’m delighted to announce that Kristine A. Buckley has been appointed Principal of Saint Gilbert School, effective July 1, 2020. She currently serves the School as Vice Principal and Director of the Learning Resource Center.
Mrs. Buckley began her career at Saint Gilbert School in 2001, and taught history and economics to Junior High students for eighteen years. In 2017, she received the “Golden Apple” award from the State of Illinois for excellence in teaching Economics, and in 2018, was awarded “Teacher of the Year” by the Veterans of Foreign Wars to honor her achievements in Civic Engagement and Teaching.
From her many years of association with the School as leader and teacher, having also been a volunteer and parent of Saint Gilbert students, she brings an abundance of knowledge, experience and Rebel spirit to her new role as Principal. The School and Parish community joins in warmly congratulating Mrs. Buckley and assuring her of our prayers and support as she prepares to lead the School into the future.

INVEST IN KIDS ACT
In August 2017, the State of Illinois passed a bill that creates a new way to fund scholarships for children who choose to attend private schools through the “Invest in Kids Act.” Through this program, students have access to scholarships that could cover up to 100 percent of tuition and eligible fees. Please visit the Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Catholic Schools website for current information regarding how the educational funding bill may benefit current and prospective Saint Gilbert Catholic School families: Tax Credit Scholarship Information
Individuals and corporations will receive a 75 percent Illinois state tax credit for donations made to a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), created to distribute the scholarships. The Archdiocese of Chicago is working with the SGOs: Empower Illinois and Big Shoulders Fund. Join us in providing a quality Catholic education to more students. Visit Tax Credit Scholarship Information for more information, or contact the Tax Credit Scholarship Office at the archdiocese at firstname.lastname@example.org or (312) 534-2617.
The theme for the 2019/20 school year is Angels Among Us. As we live out our educational ministry, we know we are surrounded by many Angels. Some of these Angels are heavenly, and they provide us with inspiration, guidance, and protection. Other Angels are earthly...our Catholic schools benefit deeply by the talents and support of our dedicated teachers, volunteers, and other supporters. We know that Angels are present throughout scripture, from the proclamations of the old testament to the celebration of Christ’s birth at the nativity.
